Transportation Tomorrow

Survey Questions

The Transportation Tomorrow Survey collects information about how and where people travel. We will ask questions regarding household information, such as the type of residence, the number of people living in the residence, and the number of vehicles available. We will also collect data concerning the types of trips made by each person in the household, including where the person traveled, when he/she traveled to this location, and the purpose of the trip.

Sample Questions include:

A. About your household
• Type of dwelling (house, townhouse or apartment)
• Number of people
• Number of vehicles available for personal use

B. About each person
• Their age
• Do they have a driver's licence?
• Do they have a transit pass?
• Where do they work or go to school (street address)

C. About each trip made by each person the previous day
• From where, to where (street address preferred or otherwise building name)
• Reason for making the trip (e.g. shopping, work, etc.)
• Start time of the trip
• Type of transportation (e.g. bus, car, bicycle, etc.)
We will only be collecting trip data for persons 11 years of age or older. A trip is a one-way journey from one location to another made by any form of motorized transportation, bicycle or walking.
